entrepreneur of year 2010
General Manager Te-Rox Prod
Next year more than 1200 people will be able to say that they owe to her the fact that they have a job. She started by saving from the risk of unemployment few hundreds of people in one of the poorest regions not only in Romania, but in the whole Europe, people who were about to be fired by a factory being closed down. Currently, her companies are employing more than 1000 people and she plans to hire 200 more next year.
One could say that her success started as a misfortune: terrible bad timing. When Doina finalised her significant investments in her initial canvas and flax yarns-based business, the liberalization of the trade contingents for China took her out of the market. But she did not give up, she could not accept sending home hundreds of employees, so she struggled and identified a new market niche, where she quickly became the market leader: she started producing accessories for the auto-chairs for babies. She proved that she can turn challenges into opportunities, to leverage her managerial skills and to survive. Therefore today Doina Cepalis owns and runs Te-Rox Prod, a company in Pascani which is acknowledged as no. 1 in Europe on the market for baby car-seat belts in Europe. The seat belts and coverings produced by Te-Rox are exported in 57 countries and her new company in Iasi will launch a new product: innovative car seats for babies, which are being tested at the moment.
And on top of her impressive achievements in business, which made us declare her Champion in Business for two consequtive editions of our project, Doina Cepalis is keen to get involved in projects related to supporting women entrepreneurs in Romania, and in promoting the entrepreneurial spirit among Romanian youngsters.
Congratulations Doina Cepalis!
Romania is proud of you!
